Privacy Policy

Alibi Night is a murder-mystery party game for phones and web browsers, operated by Tushar Moraye, an independent developer based in India ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect when you use the Alibi Night apps for iOS and Android, the web game at play.alibinight.com, and this website, and what we do with it.

The short version: we collect only what we need to run your party, we don't show ads, we don't sell or share your personal information for advertising, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.

What we collect

If you create a host account

• Your name and email address.
• Your password, stored only as a salted hash. We cannot see your actual password.
• Login session details: a session token, the IP address and the device or browser type (user agent) used to sign in, and when the session expires.

If you join a party as a guest

Guests don't need an account. We only receive the display name you type in and a random player ID that keeps you connected to the party.

While you play

To run the game we process party data such as the party code, the mystery being played, character assignments, clues revealed, in-game messages between players, votes, and the final result. Please don't put sensitive personal information in display names or in-game messages.

When you buy Pro

Purchases are handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never receive your card or bank details. We use RevenueCat to manage purchases, so we receive information such as which product you bought, purchase and renewal dates, the store's transaction identifiers, and whether your Pro access is active. This is linked to your Alibi Night account ID so Pro works across your devices.

On your device

The app stores your sign-in token in your device's secure storage so you stay signed in. The web game may use a cookie or browser storage for the same purpose. We don't use advertising cookies.

Technical data

Like any online service, our hosting provider processes IP addresses and request logs to deliver the service and protect it from abuse.

How we use it

• To run parties: connect players, deal clues, sync rounds, and count votes.
• To manage your account and keep you signed in.
• To check and restore your Pro access.
• To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
• To reply when you contact us.
• To meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, our legal bases are: performing our contract with you (running the game and your account), our legitimate interests (security and improving the service), and legal obligations (such as keeping purchase records).

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers that help us run Alibi Night:

• Cloudflare hosts our website, game servers, and database.
• RevenueCat manages in-app purchases and subscription status.
• Apple and Google process payments made through their stores, under their own privacy policies.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the service. If Alibi Night is ever sold or transferred, your information may move with it under this policy. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Where it's stored

Our providers operate globally, so your information may be processed in countries other than yours, including the United States and India. Where required, we rely on the safeguards our providers offer for international transfers, such as standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

• Account information: until you delete your account.
• Login sessions: until they expire or you sign out.
• Purchase records: as long as needed for accounting, tax, and to restore your purchases.
• Party data: as long as needed to run the game and the service.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, or object to how we use it. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Account, then Delete account; this removes it immediately. You can also email [email protected] from the address on your account, and we will respond within 30 days. Deleting your account doesn't cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription; cancel that in your store account settings.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, for example under the EU and UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act, or the Australian Privacy Act. You can use them by contacting us, and we won't treat you differently for doing so. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

Alibi Night is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls to protect your information. No online service is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date above. For significant changes, we'll give notice in the app or on this website.
